We also know how expensive it can be to
buy fresh produce.

This summer, the Senior Farmer's Market,
commonly referred to as the Summer Produce
Program, returns to our island, and will be
providing fresh, Grade A produce to seniors (60
and older) who are on limited incomes.

If your annual income is under $22,126 for an
individual, or under $29,785 for a married couple,
you qualify for this program.

To register, you need to bring 2 things. First, you
need proof of age such as your driver's license,
State ID or senior ID card.

You also need to bring proof of income such as
last year's Federal income tax return, or your
Social Security statement.

Registration forms are available at all nutrition
sites, as well as Coordinated Services for the
Elderly, and Food Basket offices.

MAY DAY IS LEI DAY

At the Hilo Nutrition Site at Aunty Sally's,
seniors celebrated May Day with King Sozun
Kaneshiro and Queen Fusae Miyamoto.
Congratulating them are President Mary
Figueroa and CSW Roger Pflum.

Kupuna News 13 July - September 2008
