NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Reappointment and New Members <br />J. Viernes reported that C. Kitaoka and K. Nova terms expire at the end of the <br />month. She inquired whether both of them want to serve another four-year term. <br />After some discussion, C. Kitaoka and K. Nova agreed to serve another term. <br /> <br />K. Peters mentioned that Kristen Brilhante, a realtor from Hilo, is interested in <br />serving on CSW. K. Brilhante’s friend, a private practicing physician name Michelle, <br />wants to be involved if there is anything she can do with the committee. <br /> <br />B. UH System CSW – Farrah Gomes <br />F. Gomes reported that she is a new appointee for the University of Hawaii <br />Commission on the Status of women. They meet every other month on Oahu. One <br />of the things they have done this year is print out a brochure on the historical <br />highlights and mission of the commission. They are in the dissemination phase right <br />now and they are distributing 2,000 brochures across the state. She provided <br />background information about the commission and circulated the brochure. <br /> <br />F. Gomes mentioned about outreach at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Some of the <br />things they are doing actively right now are going into elementary and middle <br />schools in West Hawaii to try to cultivate a college understanding. Radio spots, <br />newspaper ads, and movie theater ads will be done for publicity. <br /> <br />F. Gomes offered $1,500 from the College of Continuing Education to help support <br />some of CSW’s efforts excluding food. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />A. Next Meeting <br />The next meeting will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in <br />Waimea. Location to be announced. <br /> <br />K. Peters announced that she will invite K. Brilhante to the next meeting. <br /> <br />B. Schedules <br />K.
