HawaiÒi County Fire Commission <br />Regular Session Minutes <br />November 9, 2011 <br />Page 4 <br />Department needs to seek an alternative site for the station as the road project will <br />have a significant impact on the operation of that station. <br /> KaÒ Public Safety Package: <br /> PunaluÒu Ocean Safety Tower: <br />o <br /> Existing tower will be completed this week <br /> Waiting for approval by Finance to purchase a new apex type tower <br /> NÒlehu and Phala Volunteer Garages: <br />o <br /> Personnel from the Department of Public Works is now assigned to this <br />project <br /> Captain Glenn Honda and the volunteer captains are inventorying the <br />garages to ensure all the parts are in the package <br /> PaÒauilo: No new updates. <br /> DPW ADA Compliance, HazMat Abatement: No new updates. <br /> Pohoiki Radio Relocation: Waiting for FCC clearance to switch to the new site. <br /> <br />Chairman Taniguchi asked what the timeframe for the Central Fire Station project is. <br /> <br />Chief Rosario replied that project has been ongoing for approximately eight years. <br />The Department tries to get the land and the site first and then obtain funding to actually <br />build the station; will need to look at alternative funding for this project.
