Hawai‘i County Fire Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 9, 2012 <br />Page 4 <br />New Projects/Business <br /> Working on EMS Week festivities. <br />Employee/Public Relations <br /> Prevention Bureau with assist with Fourth of July fireworks support. Funding will <br />come from fireworks permit. <br />In response to various questions, Deputy Chief Victorino stated that there is no <br />th <br />movement on the new Kawailani location. One member of the 39 recruit class has <br />already left. Unserviceable vehicles are not yet ready for auction. He doesn’t know <br />what the backlog is of vehicle maintenance and repairs, but everyday they have <br />breakdowns. <br />Vice Chair Robinson stated that he had the opportunity to visit dispatch and encouraged <br />the other commissioners to observe the operations at the Central Fire Station. <br />VOLUNTEER BUREAU <br />Volunteer Chief Brandt thanked Chair Taniguchi, Vice Chair Robinson, and <br />Commissioner Henkel for attending their last meeting. Their next meeting will be on <br />August 18 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kaiminani station pavilion (7 Bravo). Chair Taniguchi <br />encouraged the commissioners to attend the quarterly meetings. <br />Volunteer Captain Keown from the Hawaiian Paradise Park station gave a Power Point <br />presentation on training and fire fighting activities throughout the island. On average, <br />they have about ten volunteers at each station. Two hours of training per month is <br />required. They do CPR and first aid certification very two years. <br />Chief Brandt pointed out that they have about 200 volunteers. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Budget and Finance (Committee Chair Taniguchi): No report. <br /> Office Management and Staffing (Appointment to be made): Chair Taniguchi stated <br />this role works a lot with the secretary, so would like appoint self to the committee. <br /> Rules and Policies (Committee Chair Lee): No report. <br /> Public Relations (Committee Chair Henkel): No report. <br /> Training and Education (Committee Chair Namahoe): Review of New <br />Commissioner Orientation write-up. Vice Chair Robinson moved to accept the write- <br />up with the noted amendments. Commissioner Bass seconded the motion. The <br /> <br />
