MINUTES – The Commission took up the following at this time, 9:34 a.m. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes of the March 1, 2012 meeting – It was moved by Commissioner Au, <br />seconded by Commissioner Moses, and unanimously carried by a voice vote that the minutes be <br />approved. <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS - At 9:35 a.m., the Commission took up the following under <br />administrative matters: <br /> <br /> <br />1.Coastal Zone Management (CZM)/Special Management Area (SMA) training by the <br />State Office of Planning to ensure the consistency of the SMA permit system with the <br />CZM objectives and policies, and the SMA guidelines. <br /> <br />Messrs. Leo Asuncion and Shichao Li from the State Office of Planning introduced <br />themselves. Mr. Asuncion gave a presentation on the CZM objectives and the SMA <br />permit system (SEE EXHIBIT C) and submitted additional information (SEE EXHIBITS <br />D, E and F). <br /> <br />Mr. Asuncion added the Ocean Resources Management Plan is being updated this year, <br />and they will be soliciting comments from the public statewide and government agencies, <br />and then seeking funds if the Governor approves the plan. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Status regarding the following appeals: <br /> <br />a.Rapoza, etal vs. Windward PC (Hu Honua) – SMA 221 <br /> <br />b.Parisi et al. v. Priest (Monk) of Bang San Ho Temple, et al. - SPP 919 <br /> <br />Mr. Arai noted this item will be placed on the next agenda after the Department receives <br />additional information. Ms. Leithead Todd noted that the court is asking that there be <br />some arbitration or mediation by the parties. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS – Mr. Arai announced anyone wishing to attend training on the Sunshine <br />Law scheduled for May 24, 2012 should contact him.
