The Commission took up this item at 9:45 a.m. with approximately twelve people from the public in attendance. (SEE EXHIBIT A) RECESSED The Chair called a recess at 10:36 a.m. RECONVENED The meeting reconvened at 10:54 a.m. INITIATOR: COUNTY COUNCIL Bill No. 255 regarding an amendment to Ordinance No. 08-150 which amended Ordinance No. 465, which reclassified lands from Agricultural-1 acre (A-1a) to Neighborhood Commercial-7,500 square feet (CN-7.5). Amendment seeks to delete Condition E that currently restricts use of the property to a visitor center and related uses due to flood hazards. The property is situated adjacent to the southeast of the Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden in Kealakekua, South Kona, Hawai‘i, TMK: 8-2-013: Portion of 2. The Commission took up this item at 10:54 a.m. with approximately 14 people from the public in attendance. (SEE EXHIBIT B) MINUTES – The Commission took up approval of the following minutes at 11:58 a.m.: March 15, 2012 It was moved by Commissioner Iokepa and seconded by Commissioner Hickcox that the minutes be approved as submitted. Motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance. ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS 1.Status of applications heard by Leeward Planning Commission that are pending before County Council – Mr. Arai informed the Commission that both Bill 266 (amendment to the Zoning Code, relating to agricultural tourism) and Bill 276 (amendment to the Zoning Code, relating to bed and breakfast establishments) passed the Planning Committee and were forwarded to the full Council, with minor changes to Bill 266. ANNOUNCEMENTS – Mr. Arai said that the next meeting was scheduled for August 16, 2012.
