<br />North Kohala Access Group Minutes <br />Meeting Notes <br />June 6, 2012 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) <br />Participants <br />: Jack Hoyt, Keone MacKillop, Toni Withington, Keith Wallis, Alan Gitel, Stephanie <br />Naihe-Laxton, Joe Carvalho, Jim Peterson, Lani Bowman, Aric Arakaki, Dave Richardson, Mike <br />Isaacs, Ted Matsuda. <br />Hapu'u - Kapanaia <br />Pacific Plains <br /> <br />An earlier archeological study didn't identify Kapalama Heiau. <br />¶ <br />The State Historic Preservation Division has accepted a new archeological study <br />¶ <br />from Pacific Plains, LLC identifying Kapalama Heiau <br />Hapu'u. <br /> <br />There are reports that fishermen are cutting the fence and driving to the <br />¶ <br />shoreline. <br />Stephanie is willing to put the access map of this area on their website with <br />¶ <br />Jack's help. <br />Charlie Anderson, land owner at Hapuu, is ready to work with the community <br />¶ <br />on the preservation plan for Hale O Kaili <br />Kauhola Lighthouse <br />A celebration of the public open space purchase is being planned for June 23rd. <br /> <br />Volunteers are cleaning-up on the bottom of the property and moving upward in <br />¶ <br />preparation for the celebration. <br />At the celebration, organizers will be getting community input on the <br />¶ <br />management plan for this area <br />Legal access below the old mill is being created in accordance with the county. <br /> <br />There are reports that fishermen are cutting the fence and driving to the <br />¶ <br />shoreline. <br />Ainakea <br />Nothing new to report. <br /> <br />Pahoa (Honomakau) <br />Nothing new to report. <br /> <br />Upolu Airport - East end of the runway <br />Nothing new to report <br /> <br />Upolu Airport Area Restoration <br />The right of entry (ROE) by the state is being reviewed by the Board of Land and <br /> <br />Natural Resources <br />The right of entry (ROE) by Ala Kahakai is done and they also have a corporate <br /> <br />agreement. <br />Upolu Airport West <br />DLNR is turning state lands over to Department of Agriculture for agricultural leases <br /> <br />We will send a testimony to the Board of Land and Natural Resources on <br />¶ <br />easements in that area. <br /> <br />1 of 2 <br /> <br />
