th <br />said that on July 15 the subcommittee discussed the Kahei subdivision and <br />provided an update on how the Habitat for Humanity program works. Collin <br />announced that the next subcommittee meeting would be the next Monday at 4pm. <br />Agriculture: Frank Cipriani provided an update on the subcommittee meeting on <br />st <br />July 31. He said that he had contacted the Dept. of Land and Natural Resources <br />regarding Important Agricultural Lands (IAL) designation and was provided with a <br />letter with links outlining voluntary designation of IAL. Frank provided an update on <br />the citrus producing co-project that is being proposed which included a discussion of <br />locating certified kitchens to use for juicing the fruit. Frank said the subcommittee <br />discussed the possibility of using the new kitchen at the Kohala High School and <br />providing orange juice for the cafeteria. The subcommittee also wants to look at <br />other fruit to make juice from. Frank invited Jana Bogs to provide an update on soil <br />testing issues and nutrient density of crops. Next, Frank invited David Rotstein, a <br />subcommittee member, to provide information on a community garden idea which he <br />suggested to feed 50% of Kohala by food grown locally. Frank said to also try and <br />combine soil reconditioning with this type of project. <br />4. NEW BUSINESS: PROVIDE NEW NAMES FOR INFRASTRUCTURE A AND B <br />SUBCOMMITTEES: Giovanna Gherardi made a motion to rename the Infrastructure B <br />Subcommittee to Power, View Planes and Erosion Control and Hermann Fernandez <br />seconded the motion which was unanimously approved. <br />Giovanna Gherardi made a motion to rename the Infrastructure A Subcommittee to <br />Parks and Water Improvement and Hermann Hernandez seconded the motion which <br />was unanimously approved. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC: None. <br /> <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS: None. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING: <br />Discuss Coastal Access Trail at Puakea Bay Ranch <br />NEXT MEETING: <br />Date: Wednesday, September 12, 2012 <br />Place: Kohala Intergeneration Center, Kamehameha Park <br />Time: 5:30 <br />ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, Joe Carvalho made a motion and <br />Giovanna Gherardi seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting which was unanimously <br />approved.
