<br />NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />ACTION COMMITTEE MINUTES <br />MEETING DATE October 8, 2012 <br />TIME 5:05 pm <br />PLACE Kohala Senior Center, 54-3900 Akoni Pule Highway, Kapaau, <br />Hawaii 96755 <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br />1. Members Present: John Winter, Christopher “Keoni” MacKillop, Collin Kaholo, Hermann <br />Fernandez, and Joe Carvalho. <br />2. Members absent: Frank Cipriani, Susan Fischer, Giovanna Gherardi. <br />Also present was Project Manager Rosalind Newlon from the Office of the Hawai’i County <br />Planning Department. <br />3. Public Attendance: Faye Yates, Megan Solis, Gale K. Perez, Julia Pena, Toni Withington, <br />M. Peggy Wilhelm, Lisa Andrews and Mariah Barnett. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS: None. <br />ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS: <br />1. Minutes of the August 13, 2012 meeting were reviewed and discussed by the AC. <br />Hermann Fernandez requested a change to a sentence in the Growth Management <br />Subcommittee report regarding Hoea Road. Hermann Fernandez made the motion to <br />approve, Keoni MacKillop seconded the motion, all in favor of the minutes was <br />unanimous and the minutes were approved with the changes. <br />2. The minutes of the September 12, 2012 meeting were reviewed and discussed by the <br />AC. Hermann Fernandez requested a correction to a sentence under “Statements from <br />the Public,” and also a correction to the time of the next meeting. Collin Kaholo made <br />the motion to approve, Keoni MacKillop seconded the motion, all in favor of the minutes <br />was unanimous and the minutes were approved with the changes <br />REPORTS <br />1. LAND USE PERMIT ACTIVITY REPORT – Rosalind Newlon, NKCDP Project Manager <br />reported on Planning Dept. permits received in the previous month for the North Kohala <br />district. <br />2. REPORT TO THE ACTION COMMITTEE OF THE SEPTEMBER 25, 2012 MEETING <br />WITH THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT AND CORPORATION COUNSEL – John <br />Winter started his report by going over CDP implementation and the duties and <br />th <br />responsibilities of the Action Committees that was discussed at the September 25 <br />meeting. Next, John discussed how the Planning Department will provide information <br />on proposed land use applications to the AC’s. John also reported that all official <br />correspondence be directed through the Planning Director, and that the AC’s cannot <br />form a non-profit group. <br />1 <br /> <br />
