Nutrition Program Highlights <br /> <br />Joan Kawakone, Program Director, (808) 961-8726 <br />Carla Carpenter Kabalis, Community Service Program Assistant II, (808) 961-8726 <br /> <br />Nutrition Program Director Joan Kawakone (center) holds a copy of Annie Yonashiro’s <br />latest cookbook with Annie on the right and husband Roy Yonashiro on the left. <br /> <br />Annie’s Favorite Favorites <br /> <br />The Nutrition Program has wonderful volunteers delivering Meals on Wheels to homebound <br />seniors throughout Hawai‘i County. In Hilo, Mel Nakao, Lauren Nishimoto and Steve Yamami <br />have volunteered for years, bringing cheer to our senior participants. <br /> <br />Annie Yonashiro, whose Mom Betty Araujo had meals delivered by Lauren, is donating a <br />portion of the proceeds from her latest cookbook to Meals on Wheels. This donation will be used <br />to provide additional meals to homebound seniors on our island. <br /> <br />Mahalo Annie - “Annie’s Favorite Favorites Island Style Cooking II” is OUR favorite! <br /> <br />Nasturtium Cafe <br /> <br />Meet chef Diane Tomac-Campogan and her husband Daryl, who are now providing our <br />Meals on Wheels in Kona. Visit their Nasturtium Café in Kealakekua Mon-Fri from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. <br /> <br />Nutrition Newbies! <br /> <br />Say “Hello” to our new Community Service Workers: Anna Marie “Maile” Canario in <br />Papa‘aloa (left), Kristina Mauak in Pepeekeo (center), Catherine Luthe in Honoka‘a (right).
