Creating Your Community Plan
Step 1: Community Description
A Description of the Community
A description of your community introduces your plan to people
who don't live there. There are four forms that can be used to
present a general description of your community. The first form
provides a place for a broad summary of your community. The
next three forms provide answers to common questions people
may have about your community. Together, these forms introduce
your community and provide information on its culture, history,
people, economy, governance, education, jobs, income, land, and
critical issues.
Louise ]Moses, AIIA12Aket
f
Most of the information to complete these forms is available. Some of it can be found on the State
of Alaska's community profiles internet site. The U.S. Census Bureau and state agencies can provide
you with additional information. Contact information can be found in the Appendix. If you get stuck
on any question, move on to the next.
Guiding questions to help you complete Forms 1 -4 are found below.
General Description -- Form 1
Write a general description of your community's place, culture, history, economy, governance, and
critical issues.
