HAWAIIAN CULTURE PRESERVATION <br />0 <br />PAHOA TOWN INFRAESTRUCTURE PRESERVATION <br />EXISTING MUSEUM RELATED COMMENTS <br />0 EXISTING NEW COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS RELATED COMMENTS (MALLS) <br />- GENERAL PRESERVATION COMMENTS <br />HAWAIIAN CULTURE PRESERVATION <br />H- caves with burials and cultural sites and artifacts not protected or identified before <br />bulldozing <br />H- could be more wide spread and funkier.needs love help manao of kanaka's(humans) <br />that live in area.. we are our own history, for if we dont remember today who will <br />H- Culture rich & diverse & dynamic. Preserving pahoa from going "mainland" is very <br />important - city beautification (non - commercialization) is very important <br />H- Grave markers and plaque about sugar cane industry, please? More historical info <br />please. <br />H- Have talks at Museum in Pahoa so community knows our history. <br />H- Hawaiian traditions should be cultivated now and in the future and not lost. <br />H- Historic resources are vital to town character <br />H- more Hawaiian culture preservation <br />H- Native Hawaiians deserve most respect. <br />H- There is a major lack of education to the incoming people who are moving into our <br />town. We used to be a quaint, quiet peaceful town and now it is all about the boom. We <br />have lost our cultural sense of understanding. There are no boundaries on the <br />consideration and preservation of our kupuna iwi, arch. sites and special forsaken <br />landscape. <br />H- Need kupuna and hawaiians to have an active role in their Moku, not someone who <br />thinks they know but an ancestor ohana like the Kaawaloa Ohana. Too many haloes in <br />Leilani esp in the association try to change the rules to their mainland style of thinking. <br />The Hawaiians here are upset that the association has too much power and needs to be <br />audited and overseen with more Hawaiian horned input. <br />H- Need more culture exhibits like City of Refuge in Konz side honaunau more bicycle <br />cops <br />H- need more exposure to public for cultural exposure <br />H- other than Pahoa Museum, there is no recognition of our Hawaiian Culture & History <br />H- The Hawaiian culture is an important part of our lives and the way we live.
