We need more parks set up for swimming and family activities. Pahoa side of the island has so
much beauty to offer we need to get it out there and market it.
1/ M N u I lllelk
More parks in Lower Puna.
Rest stops needed on the highway with water and bathrooms and covered picnic tables. Could
be maintained daily by DHS recipients.
Artificial surf breaks could assist in expanding eco- tourism.
There is a "resident" thief at Lava Tree State Park who gives the area a real black eye.
Neighborhood parks off of Kahakai well maintained, tho with very sparse facilities.
Disproportionate areas of public parks and recreation in Puna.
More parks are needed for community (keiki) as well as more Community Centers.
I wish there was a covered pavillion in Seaview for volleyball, tennis, soccer, etc ... No sport
opportunities for kids around here. Seaview park only has volleyball nets and small pavillion for
sitting and very small playground structure. It would be SO wonderful to get covered basketball
hoops!!
Need more community basketball parks, children's parks too.
Too many excuses for poor maintenance.
Very poor. Thank goodness Poho'iki got done, but Puna could use playing fields, community
centers, picnic areas - go to Utah and see how the Mormons make family friendly parks.
Beaches!
Regain surf spots. Give district 5 ocean access.
Here we're doing very well. Thank goodness.
Parks and Recreation Page 13
