S- Services for the older person almost non - existent at a reasonable rate and accessibility.
S- We need a senior center on the scale of Hilo's
NEEDS OF SOCIAL SERVICES IN GENERAL
G- Come one. This is a huge need.
G- Definitely need more, esp. mental health /crisis intervention. Elderly daytime services is good.
G- help for poor and all classes of people please
G- I believe that a disproportionate amount of people with lower /moderate income live in the Pahoa
area versus other parts of our island so more social services are needed to address that problem.
G- I'd like to see a compiled list of access available to social services, it seems random and not cohesive
G- Job skills for adults who ant to or have to get a betterjob. Single parent /divorced
G- need heolp in many areas all ages medical, dental, aid
G- Need more for growing population
G- Need more outreach to those that need social svcs most
G- Need more youth programs, services, outreach.
G- None
G- Not adequate for our population
G- Not much available
G- Additionally, the Pahoa pool is set up to be heated in the cooler months. Get it working so more
people can use it - including our children who use it for their swim club /team. And let's not forget the
elderly - heating the pool like it was supposed to be, will allow this valuable resource to be utilized.
G- pahoa has a serious lack of sociaql services.
G- Pahoa needs more services for the mentally ill.
G- reallly do i need to say more think of all the people that need social services that are running up and
down the streets and are getting worst because with social there needs to be mental
G- Social services thru Bay Clinic is unacceptable and unaccessible for most of us, given the ongoing
mismanagement of the Bay Clinics. State and Federal funding for other service providers continues to
decrease any access for these important services in Puna and on the island.
G- The Pahoa Family Health Center provides coordinating service support for those individuals
regarding assistance beyond health care services. There are also state, county, and community -based
organizations that do have a presence in Pahoa providing for these services. However, the these
services must be expanded to adequately meet the increasing needs of the fast growing population.
G- The Social services here in Puna should be more aware, it seems to me as if there just kind've laid
back with there jobs.
G- There are great programs like the Neighborhood Place of Puna; but there needs to be more.
G- This goes hand in hand with above. With a growing community it seems that there could stand to
be more little plazas to support local businesses to move in and provide a wide array of services...
G- very limited
G- We have 2 professionals on our school campus and we need more :)
G- What services, for example? Food pantry? Family planning? Counseling? Red Cross? Are these
services available here? I am not aware of the services in Pahoa. The pool is Fantastic!
G- if you mean social as in caring for the under privledged.
Social services Page 3
