• The sense of community, support for each other at the neighborhood, school and church level. The friendly people. • It is a quaint, beautiful town. • The UNIQUENESS and HISTORICAL LEGACY of the village, its lack of corporate presence in the village, (don't let it any closer, thanks Long's)! I love the quaint charm of the downtown street boardwalk. • I love the old time feel of the town. The store fronts and boardwalk are quaint. • Pahoa town's small town feel and look. It has all the necessary stores and amenities but is still quaint and friendly. • The charming old buildings and being able to get a variety of sit - down and take -out meal choices. • Small town atmosphere with a separate area for new businesses, ie: shopping center, nice selection of restaurants. "Funky ", old "hippie" atmosphere. • I love Pahoa and its old funky building and diverse population. • I love the funky home -town feel and the aloha attitude most folks have. I like the old buildings. Like the small town feel. • LOVE the covered walkways. Environmental consciousness small -town artistic, creative people, eclectic characters. OTHER ATTRIBUTES OF PAHOA • The new transfer station has made life easier in getting all your rubbish/recycling done in one place. • Good restaurants, good natural food store....the best swimming pool on the Big Island... great community center. • Love the hardware store, Long's drugs, newly paved roads. • The addition of Longs and improvements to the shopping center save us lots of time and gas. • Great businesses and great business owners. Skate Park is great! Music scene is good. Food is great! Community is great. • Nothing in particular. • The diversity of its residents. The sense of community. How everyone knows everyone. The Christmas parade.! I grew up in Pahoa, it's my home, and it's all I know — its got character, and it's important to keep that in mind when you bring in generic and 16
