Application for Special Permit <br />Proposed Use for Subject Property <br />Rodney & Lorrie Diamond <br />TMK (3) 1- 5- 017:112 <br />The proposed use for the subject property is for a secure baseyard - covered parking of drilling and farm <br />equipment, routine maintenance of drilling and farm equipment, storage of drilling and farming materials <br />and supplies, and the repair of small water pumps. <br />Covered parking for two drill rig vehicles, two drilling support trucks <br />Parking for a farm tractor, front end loader, ATV, and trailer used for maintaining an oil palm <br />tree farm located Keaau. <br />Storage of materials used in the business <br />o Metal well casing <br />o Sand and gravel used for well construction <br />o Pumps, PVC pipe, and pressure tanks <br />o Assorted pipe fittings, plumbing, and electrical supplies used in well and water system <br />construction and repair. <br />o Food grade, biodegradable drilling soap. <br />o Fuel and lubricant storage for drilling and farm vehicles. <br />• A small workshop area for vehicle maintenance and repair, equipment repair, and pump repair. <br />Having this parking, storage and maintenance facility located at the back of our residence eliminates our <br />need to commute to work by car, allows for more productive work scheduling, provides a more secure <br />setting for parking our drilling and farm equipment (away from opportunities for theft and vandalism), <br />and is more economical with respect to the alternative; having to rent or purchase an off -site parking <br />and storage facility. <br />Proposed hours of operation at subject property: <br />8:OOAM — 5:00PM Monday through Friday <br />Number of employees: <br />The business is owner operated. The three business employees are the business owners. Two employees <br />live in the residence on the subject property. The third employee commutes to the subject property from <br />his home in Volcano Village. <br />The majority of work performed by the business is in the field at our clients properties. The business <br />drills well, installs water pumps, piping and associated water system equipment at our clients' <br />properties. The subject property is also used to park and maintain agricultural equipment used to <br />operate an oil palm tree farm located on leased property in Keaau Town. <br />The workshop area will be used for maintaining business owned machinery and equipment only. No <br />client vehicle repairs will be performed at the subject property. Pumps being repaired for clients will be <br />picked up and returned to our clients by business personnel. No walkup repairs will be accepted. <br />The subject property will not be used as a retail or wholesale outlet. Most business is done over the <br />phone and by email. Items purchased by our clients are delivered to their property. Clients will not be <br />coming to the business property to receive purchased items. <br />Page 3 <br />
