The corals and other bottom dwelling life tha <br />would be destroyed and the process of recolonizing those species would have to <br />bi2ildihdiidiliegn. . t wou str up te sement as one massve event an ocean crcuaton <br />bi2ildihdiidili <br />would move it onto living corals further away. <br />Strategy 3.3; The County of Hawaii shall work closely with State <br />Agencies and with the Kawaihae community to design solutions to restore ocean <br />circulation along the Coast through the creation of a washout ch <br />The feasibility study conducted by the Army Corps concluded that the sediment <br />yyyyp <br />would fill the channel and would not do what was hoped, disperse the sediment out <br />into the ocean to clean out the bay. <br />Note: The Kawaihae Community still wishes to see the wash out ch <br />and feels strongly that it should remain an option to restore ocean circulation. <br />Policy 4: Improve Traffic Safety for vehicular and non-vehicular <br />transportation along Akoni Pule Highway <br />Strategy 4.1; Reduce the speed limit from 35 to 25 mph along Ako <br />vicinity of Kawaihae Harbor as indicated on the Conceptual Plan <br />The South Kohala Traffic Safety Committee has been trying to get <br />speed limit and the most they got was STOP to be painted on the road at the stop sign. <br />The challenge continues to be funding and priorities. <br />ggp <br />Strategy 4.2; Prohibit parking along the shoulder of Kawaihae Ro <br />for pedestrians and bicyclists. <br />There was some work done toward this end in terms of taking out the coconut trees, and <br />taking out the cattle pens near the comfort station so that park <br />County Police Department will site cars parked along the shoulde <br />when they see or are told of vehicles parking in shoulder areas. <br />Strategy 4.3; Form an agreement with DLNR to utilize the land by the old cattle loading <br />area for overflow parking from local businesses <br />his has bddbdffkeen one an this area is now eing use or overlow paring <br />Tbddbdffk <br />Strategy 4.4; Construct pedestrian paths and bikeways along Akon <br />Kawaihae corridor and add appropriate signage to increase safety <br />SKTSC has been working with State on getting crosswalks, sidewal <br />signage to be alert and enhance safety. <br />Another option might be to work with Ala Kahakai National Histor <br />trail off of the roadway up against the Harbor fence line. <br />Also working in conjunction with SSFM during Harbor enhancements <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
