As we move into the second half of <br />the year, we are pleased to offer a variety of activities <br />and events for seniors to participate in. Our goal is to <br />continue to provide new and exciting programs <br />throughout the island, to keep our seniors healthy and <br />happy. <br />Call our offices at: Hilo 961-8710, Kea‘au 966-5801 <br />and Kona 323-4330 for more information about our <br />programs, or visit us online at www.hawaiicounty.gov. <br /> <br />“Exercise Through Music,” a Ka‘ū District Event, was held <br />on March 28 in Nā‘ālehu. Hula exercise with Hannah <br />Uribe’s Halau and fitness exercise with Helen Nelson got <br />Ka‘ū Seniors on their feet swaying and marching throughout <br />Nā‘ālehu Community Center. Pictured leading the hula <br />was Aunty Mabel Kaipo of Nā‘ālehu Seniors. Musical <br />Pictionary games, Kanikapila, and a healthy lunch sent <br />everyone home happy and healthier. <br /> <br />Going For Gold <br />140 Seniors from around the island came together to participate <br />in the 2013 Senior Olympics that was held at the Old Kona <br />Airport on March 8. There was 11 events that they competed <br />in which consisted of: Ground golf, Pickleball, Bocce ball, <br />Swimming, Tennis, Basketball Throw, Homerun Derby, Run/ <br />Walk, Darts, Horseshoes, and Frisbee Toss.
