Public Notice for LOMR Floodplain Restudy <br />The County of Hawaii, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation <br />65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of the intent to revise the floodplain and floodway, generally <br />located at the Honaunau vicinity in the South Kona District. The restudy is based on the updated <br />topography, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses. The revision will result in establishment of Base <br />Flood Elevations (1% annual chance), floodplain, and floodway. Specifically, the floodplain and <br />floodway will be revised as follows: <br />Watercourse 13 (Honaunau Watercourse) <br />Watercourse 13 is from the stream mouth to a point approximately 2,700 feet east of Mamalahoa <br />Highway. As a result of the revision, the floodplain and floodway shall widen and narrow with a <br />maximum widening of 310 feet at a point approximately 1,450 feet west of Mamalahoa Highway <br />and a maximum narrowing of 170 feet within Ke Ala O Keawe Right -Of —Way. <br />Watercourse 14 (Honaunau Watercourse Tributary 1) <br />Watercourse 14 is from the confluence with Watercourse 13 (approximately 6,300 west of <br />Mamalahoa Highway) to a point approximately 3,300 feet east of Mamalahoa Highway. As a <br />result of the revision, the floodplain and floodway shall widen with a maximum widening of 95 <br />feet at a point approximately 900 feet west of Mamalahoa Highway. <br />Watercourse 15 (Honaunau Watercourse Tributary 2A) <br />Watercourse 15 is from the confluence with Watercourse 17 (approximately 4,700 feet west of <br />Mamalahoa Highway) to a point approximately 3,100 feet east of Mamalahoa Highway. As a <br />result of the revision, the floodplain and floodway shall widen with a maximum widening of 190 <br />feet at a point approximately upstream of Ke Ala O Keawe Road culvert. <br />Watercourse 16 (Honaunau Watercourse Tributary 2B) <br />Watercourse 16 is from the confluence with Watercourse 15 (approximately 4,100 feet west of <br />Mamalahoa Highway) to a point approximately 3,000 feet east of Mamalahoa Highway.
