(b) If the director, after considering the committee's recommendation(s), finds that the proposed sign is in compliance with this article and chapter and any other applicable county, state or federal law or regulation, a sign permit shall be issued by the department. Section 3- . Variances. A variance may be granted in accordance with article 1, division 6 of this chapter. Section 3- . Desi2n Committee review of variances. A projecting sign for each business conducted on the premises, stating the name and the nature of the business, may only occur on an exterior wall without an overhang and shall not exceed sixteen sauare feet.
