<br />COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN MINUTES <br />Friday, Thursday, September 13, 2013 <br />Convened at Waimea Center <br />65-1158 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 2C <br />Kamuela, HI 96743 <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Carol Kitaoka at 10:20 a.m. <br /> <br />II. ROLL CALL <br /> <br />PRESENT EXCUSED <br />Carol Kitaoka, Chair Farrah-Marie Gomes, Secretary <br />Katie Nova, Vice-Chair Mele Spencer, Treasurer <br />Kim Schneider Elena Cabatu (ex-officio) <br />Hazel Beck <br />Brooke Derby GUEST <br />Nancy Kelly Karen Rose <br />Cyd Hoffeld <br />Margaret Masunaga (ex-officio) <br /> <br /> A quorum was present. <br /> <br />III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The minutes of the Committee on the Status of Women held on September 13, 2013 are <br />amended to note that on Page 2, Urgent Services Directory, that Mele Spencer received <br />all of the updates. With modification, the minutes were unanimously approved. <br /> <br />V. TREASURER’S REPORT <br />Expenditure reports were presented at the meeting; however, Mele Spencer was not <br />present to give a report. <br />Discussion: Mele’s report is in a different format which needs clarification from her; the <br />last column should reflect the balance. <br /> <br />VI. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Guest Karen Rose was introduced. She works at the Prosecutor’s Office as a Victim <br />Witness Counselor and is very passionate about women’s issues. She turned in an <br />application to be considered to be on the committee when a position becomes available. <br /> <br />VII. CORRESPONDENCE <br />th <br />Invitation to the 25 Annual Domestic Violence Family Peace Walk and Vigil “Lost, <br />Live, Love” on Friday, October 25, 2013. This event is in Hilo which the committee will <br /> <br />
