CORRESPONDENCE
None

REPORTS
A. LIAISON
1. Hawaii State CSW

The Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women meets tomorrow. The
Hawaii County CSW request for financial assistance to bring Dr. Jill Murray
back to the island is on the agenda. Elena will be asking for $5,000 from the
HSCSW.

2014 will be celebrated as the Year of the Girl in recognition of adolescent girls
and young women. The HSCSW will be working with non-profit organizations
to come up with a year-long calendar of events, with hopes of also having
blogging and social media presence.

2. Legislative Update

The HSCSW is starting to prepare for the upcoming legislative session by
drafting bills and talking with legislators.

HSCSW Executive Director, Cathy Betts, distributed copies of the 2014
Women’s Coalition legislative package.

Two focal bills include Temporary Caregivers Insurance and Raise in the
Minimum Wage. The HSCSW is also working toward ensuring that the
Emergency Contraception Law passed last session is complied with and
people know about it. Additionally, the HSCSW is working toward ensuring that
the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, which is covered by minimum wage and
anti-discriminatory laws, is complied with.

Kim S. inquired on how Hawaii County CSW members can be informed about
when hearings are scheduled so that testimony can be provided on time. After
discussion, Cathy agreed to add Hawaii County CSW members to the HSCSW
email list. At that point, members can provide testimony as individuals. The
process for submitting testimony on behalf of the Hawaii County CSW will be
discussed in detail at a future meeting.

B. HEALTH
1.
