Cyd Hoffeld suggested Eileen Wagatsuma on the east side. <br />Kathy Peters suggested we get in touch with the principals; we can send out a <br />letter. <br />Elena Cabatus suggested we ask for a letter from the Mayor to encourage this <br />announcement. <br />Elena Cabatu and Cyd Hoffeld volunteered to do this project. <br />Kathy Peters mentioned that the information is vital if we can reach the schools <br />and that it would be helpful for the mentorship, too. <br />Discussion made regarding having overhead announcements at the schools. <br />Kathy Peters thanked Elena Cabatu for the commercials; they were great <br />commercials and we should listen to it if we haven’t heard it yet. <br />Elena Cabatu will ask the committee for the same amount. She wants to be sure <br />we have enough funding. The Commission is very supportive of this project. <br />Nancy Kelly reported that nothing is allocated for this project, but $1,900 is <br />allocated for the Hall of Fame and $1,500 is allocated for the workshop and co- <br />sponsorship. <br />Elena Cabatu suggested we wait until the end of the year to see how much we <br />can allocate to the radio spots and use the Commission funding at the beginning <br />of the fiscal year. <br /> <br />C. Liaison <br />1. State Commission’s strategic planning <br />Elena Cabatu will be attending a meeting next week and will report back on that. <br /> <br />2. Legislative Update <br />The committee on Maui is encouraging Cathy Betts to do a presentation. We <br />can pick and choose a topic (i.e., breastfeeding, emergency contraceptives, etc.) <br />Kim Schneider suggested we should have her here in December since legislative <br />session is in January. <br /> <br />D. Community Reports <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame – Committee <br />Doodie Downs was not present to give a report. <br />Kim Schneider reported that she called Doodie numerous times and has not heard <br />from her. <br />Linda Ugalde moved to cancel the Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame for 2012; <br />Nancy Kelly seconded the motion. <br />Discussion was held on whether this event should be held or do we divert our <br />energy somewhere else. <br />Nancy Kelly expressed that the Hall of Fame impacts the fewest people and that <br />these types of events are mainly for organization fundraising. We might consider <br />that this is something we might walk away from. <br />3 <br /> <br />
