October 2012: A CIP request for $40,000.00 was submitted by the AC for an initial feasibility study and included in the FY 2013-14 CIP budget. To date this project has not been included in any county bond authorization legislation. January 2013: Parks and Recreation Director, Clayton Honma wrote a letter of support for the feasibility study of the Pohoiki Swimming area. January 2013: An attempt by Sen. Russell Ruderman to include $250,000.00 in the state's FY 2013-14 CIP budget for a feasibility study, conceptual master plan and preliminary engineering failed. July 2013: Resolution 133-13 expressing support of a swimming area passed unanimously by the Council. January 2014: Council Member Ilagan offered $40,000 from his FY 2013-14 contingency fund for the feasibility study. However, Parks and Rec. indicated that they would not be able to encumber the funds before June 2014 deadline date and that they should be in a better position in the next fiscal year to initiate the project should funding become available.
