(Pictured Above) <br /> <br />Congratulations to Edward Madamba of Hilo <br />and Bette Green of Waikoloa on being selected <br />as the Outstanding Older Americans for Hawai‘i <br />County 2014. We are fortunate to have both of <br />them in our programs and they continue to be <br />strong leaders in our community that make our <br />programs successful. <br />Mayor William Kenoi and Alan Parker <br />presented the awards to Edward Madamba <br />(pictured left) and Bob Green (pictured right) <br />who represented Bette Green. <br /> <br />32nd Anniversary Hawai‘i Kupuna Hula Festival <br />The 32nd Annual Hawai‘i Kupuna Hula Festival will descend on the Sheraton Kona Resort <br />& Spa, September 10th and 11th. Doors will open at 4:45 p.m. and performances begin at 5:30 p.m. <br />Tickets are just $10 per person per night. Solo performances and the International Ho‘olaule‘a are <br />scheduled for Wednesday night and the Royal Court appearance will precede the Kane, Wahine, <br />and Mixed group competitions on Thursday night. 26 halau have entered the festival to date. This <br />year’s theme “Na Mele O Na Moku O Oahu” focuses on songs about Oahu. Each halau had to find <br />a song that spoke of a district on Oahu. Join us to watch these performances about the Gathering <br />Isle! Tickets for the festival can be purchased at the Special Programs office located at 74-5044 <br />Ane Keohokalole Hwy., Bldg. B.
