<br />Hawaii Game Management Advisory Commission Meeting <br />Minutes – September 23, 2013 <br /> <br />A motion was made by W. Camara to defer the approval of the minutes/ <br />Seconded by T. Lodge. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br /> <br />PUBLIC TESTIMONY ON AGENDA ITEMS: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />REPORTS/SPECIAL COMMITTEE PRESENTATION: <br /> <br />Chair Sylvester: GMAC’s responsibility is to advise various government agencies <br />on sustainable subsistence hunting and fishing, as well as protect traditional <br />cultural gathering rights, GMAC is particularly interested in learning the status of: <br />A) The Hawai’i Game Management Plan; B) The Pu’u Wa’awa’a and Pu’u <br />Anahulu Habitat Conservation Plan; C) The Dollar contribution made by the <br />USFW to DLNR programs and the percentage this represents in the DLNR <br />budget; D) Mr. Aila’s thoughts as to the impact(s) of priority 1 and 2 of the State’s <br />Watershed Protection Plan on Sustainable hunting and fishing, as well as <br />protection of traditional cultural gathering rights. <br /> <br />A. THE HAWAI’I GAME MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> <br />Mr. Aila: The Hawai’i Game Management Plan is in draft form right now. DLNR is <br />In the process of hiring another game biologist as well as a program manager. <br />Once vacancy is filled within the next month or so, Mr. Aila will be able to update <br />GMAC. <br /> <br /> <br />B. THE PU’U WA’AWA’A AND PU’U ANAHULU HABITAT CONSERVATION <br />PLAN <br /> <br />Mr. Aila: The Pu’u Wa’awa’a and Pu’u Anahulu Habitat Conservation Plan – <br />Some of you have received scoping letters. The consultant, Garcia and <br />Associates has a draft EA. Folks who are interested may go to the DLNR <br />website or you may call the consultant for a copy and to be placed on the mailing <br />list. Your input to the draft EA is welcomed. <br /> <br /> <br />C.
