<br />Hawai’i Game Management Advisory Commission Meeting <br />Minutes – April 21, 2014 <br />Chair Sylvester: I think I mentioned at the last meeting that \[unclear\] public <br />recreational activities and animal control \[unclear\] and that kind of – Finance <br />looked at that and said, “No.” Not enough money for it. <br /> <br />Man: \[Unclear\] <br /> <br />Chair Sylvester: Yeah. That sensitive \[unclear\] then we could get our acquisition <br />coordinator so \[unclear\] lot of the successful bills \[unclear\] specific to that species <br />and \[unclear\] it’s kind of just general so \[unclear\] opposition to \[unclear\]. <br />\[Unclear\] All right, anything else? Mark, anything on your end? <br /> <br />M.Bartell: I’m good, Tony. <br /> <br />Chair Sylvester: Anyone in the audience two minutes more. Anything? Steve? <br />Glen? OK. State your name. <br /> <br />Man: My name is Glen Hisashima concerned citizen. I know what the GMAC was <br />formerly for. It’s not that you’re not doing your job – you have to look at the world <br />crisis right now. There’s a food that’s killing all the pigs on the mainland. <br /> <br />Man: Right. <br /> <br />G. Hisashima: Domestic. Cattle is not growing in the United States anymore. <br />Everything is coming from Hawai’i right now. I looking at asking you folks we’ve <br />got to protect the resources now. The pigs. Our pigs don’t have the disease yet. <br /> <br />Man: Right. <br /> <br />G. Hisashima: When it happens, what are you going to do? The price of pork is <br />going sky high. And they’re even saying, “Don’t eat the bacon.” They don’t know <br />if it’s transmitted from pig to humans and humans to humans. They don’t even <br />know this scientific knowledge yet. Why are we waiting? They’re gonna – I look <br />at the state – why we waiting for this to happen to us? Our resources, our pigs on <br />our island, wild cattle and everything. You got it. Nobody paying attention to that. <br /> <br />Chair Sylvester: No vaccine, virus is killing baby pigs. <br /> <br />G. Hisashima: Yeah. They don’t make it past 2 weeks. You’re talking in the <br />millions pigs dying. So now what we as a small island – we going be the first not <br />to get \[unclear\]. <br /> <br />Chair Sylvester: Spread over ….it’s 38 states. <br /> <br />G. Hisashima: And in Hawai’i? Any? <br /> <br />Chair Sylvester: \[Unclear\] No <br /> 27 <br /> <br />
