Van Bergen <br />Deputy Director <br />Kalapana Lava Viewing Area Closed Until <br />Further Notice Due to Road Construction <br />The County of Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation has <br />closed the Kalapana Lava Viewing Area to ensure the public's <br />safety during the construction of the nearby Chain of Craters <br />Road. <br />The Kalapana Lava Viewing Area, located near the end of <br />Highway 130 in lower Puna, will remain closed until further notice. <br />Access is limited to area residents. <br />The Department of Parks and Recreation thanks users of the <br />Kalapana Lava Viewing Area and the general public for their <br />patience and understanding while the closure is in effect. <br />For more information, please contact Jason Armstrong, Public <br />Information Officer, at 961-8311 or jarmstrong�a hawaiicount rLgov. <br />-30- <br />County of Hawai'i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. <br />
