Van Bergen <br />Deputy Director <br />`Ahalanui Park Closed to Repair Storm - <br />Damaged Warm Pond <br />The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation has closed `Ahalanui Park in <br />lower Puna so cleanup and repairs may be made to the park's popular swimming pond. <br />High surf from Tropical Storm Iselle damaged the rock walls and concrete walkways <br />forming the pond's perimeter and deposited debris and boulders into the swimming <br />area, prompting Hawaii County to close the pond as a safety precaution. <br />General contractor William C. Loeffler Construction Inc. started cleanup and repair work <br />Monday, October 6, and expects to finish the project, weather and conditions permitting, <br />by November 10.
