The members
of the Action Committee of the Puna Community Development Plan invite you to attend our meetings
which are held at the Kea'au Community Center on the second Tuesday of each month at 3:00 pm.
The Action Committee's primary mandate is to work with members of the Puna community to
implement the recommended actions in the Plan. Some of the projects we have worked on this past
year have been:
• Pahoa Village Design Guidelines, Pahoa Regional Town Center Plan
• Mountain View Village Long Range Plan
• Volcano Long Range Plan
• Land acquisition through P.O.N.C. to create an alternate access to Wai'opae
• Collaborate with the Department of Mass Transit to establish Hub and Spoke public bus routes
and airport routes
• Designate connecting roadways in Puna subdivisions
• Second Annual Puna Regional Emergency Preparedness Fair
• Support the Puna Community Medical Center
• Support the Kapono Community Development Plan
• Support of the designation of Red Road (Hwy 137) as a National Scenic Byway
• Consultation with the Planning Department on several project permit proposals that had the
potential for negative impact on the mandates of the Puna Community Development Plan
As Hawaii's fastest growing area, Puna's infrastructure already presented challenges. With the current
lava flow and changes to our weather patterns, we are facing unprecedented changes and demands. It
is essential that we come together to serve our community and we look forward to collaborating with
you.
Hawai`i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer
