- The Department is awaiting approval from Administration to impose commercial green waste <br /> tipping fees. The funds from these fees will be used to provide green waste areas in more <br /> transfer stations and possible on-site mulching. Implementation process is currently being <br /> defined. <br /> VOLCANO TRANSFER STATION blessing is tentatively scheduled for sometime in the week of <br /> December 8, 2014. Commissioners will receive an invitation to the event. <br /> June 27th Lava Flow update: <br /> - Lava flow damaged a portion of the asphalt drive behind the chutes at the Pahoa Transfer <br /> Station. No structures were affected. <br /> - The County is considering using the transfer station as an educational and tour-start site for <br /> students. If this is successful, it may be opened up to the public for lava viewing if lava <br /> remains inactive in the area. Safety and liability issues are being discussed. <br /> - There needs to be 50%damage of a site to qualify for FEMA funding. <br /> - Due to the slowing of the lava flow,the County Information Center has been closed and there is <br /> no briefing this week. <br /> - Civil Defense is requesting ground penetration equipment to measure the underground flow. <br /> - The department continues to explore site parcels for a new Pahoa Transfer Station site. <br /> Tropical Storm Iselle update: <br /> - Sanford Quarry is responsible for the green waste that was taken to them during the storm. <br /> - Since the County paid Sanford for the green waste disposal, it will be requesting FEMA <br /> reimbursement. <br /> Commission Member District Update Reports—includes information obtained from meetings <br /> with council members and district residents since the last commission meeting -None <br /> 6.
