<br />MCPD P&R Report Feb 2015 <br />Alisa Mitchener, Recreation Specialist <br /> <br /> <br />Open House programs in Hilo and Kona continue to be well attended <br /> <br />Coordinating staff training on Homeless Issues in Our Parks to include staff from <br />Recreation, Aquatics, Elderly Activities Division (EAD) and Parks Maintenance <br /> <br />Arranged for a loan of mobi mats to Volcanoes National Park to test them for <br />access to events on grassy terrain. <br /> <br />I’d like to encourage the Recreation Ad Hoc committee to start up again. I will <br />assist the group, but it needs to be lead by a committee member. <br /> <br />Per DCAB Report <br />HB 721 and SB 762 - Relating to Beach Access. This bill requires entities that <br />manage beaches to provide access for persons with disabilities. DCAB supports <br />the intent of this bill and offers many comments on the implementation of such a <br />bill. <br /> <br />This could be an interesting discussion… <br /> <br />I’m interested in creating pool orientations for people with visual impairments…if <br />anyone is interested please call me at Ph. 961-8681. <br />
