20 players joined ERS at the Rack ’em and Crack ’em Billiards Tournament (Pictured Above) at Yano Hall. <br />Placing 1st and 2nd in the 9 ball tournament; Mamerto <br />Macanas and Bob Terukina (Pictured Below) <br /> <br />3rd Annual Mayor’s Cup Senior Softball Tournament a Home Run! <br />This January brought 12 teams of seniors <br />from across the <br />country to Makae‘o <br />Park in Kailua-Kona <br />for the 3rd Annual Mayor’s Cup Senior Softball Tournament sponsored by the <br />Hawai‘i Island United <br />Way. This was the <br />first year that the <br />tournament hosted a <br />Women’s Division in addition to Men’s 60 and Men’s 70+ Division. <br />Teams joined the tournament from as far away as Canada, Michigan, <br />Ohio, California and Oahu. Big Island team Hawaiian Pride retained <br />their title as champions in the 70+ Division and California Reds battled <br />local team Kona Gold to win the Men’s 60 Division Championship for the <br />second time. In the Women’s Division Hot Lava battled to win the <br />first Championship slot for the ladies. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and <br />performances begin at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person per night. Solo <br />performances and the International Ho‘olaule‘a are scheduled for Wednesday <br />night and the Royal Court appearance will precede the Kane, Wahine, and Mixed <br />group competitions on Thursday night. <br />For this year’s theme “Ola Kupa‘āina” A Person of the Land, each halau had <br />to find a song to share about the place they call home. <br />Tickets for the festival can be purchased at the Special Programs office <br />located at 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Hwy., Bldg.
