Van Bergen <br />Deputy Director <br />Pahoa Senior Center to Reopen June 29 <br />The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation announces it will <br />reopen the Pahoa Senior Center on Monday, June 29. <br />Services returning to the Pahoa Senior Center will include the Hawaii <br />County Nutrition Program (HCNP), Elderly Recreation Services (ERS), <br />Coordinated Services for the Elderly (CSE), and the Pahoa Senior Club. <br />In September 2014 as an advancing lava flow threatened to inundate <br />Pahoa, the Department of Parks and Recreation temporarily relocated <br />those operations so the Pahoa Senior Center could be used as an <br />emergency fire station servicing the lower Puna community. <br />The Department of Parks and Recreation thanks the public for its patience <br />and understanding while the Pahoa Senior Center was closed for <br />emergency purposes. <br />For more details regarding the Department of Parks and Recreation's <br />Elderly Activities Division and the programs it offers, please call 961-8708. <br />991111 <br />County of Hawai'i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. <br />
