Van Bergen Deputy Director Laupahoehoe Small Boat Harbor Access Driveway Closure The County of Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation announces the closure of the access driveway to the Laupahoehoe Small Boat Harbor effective immediately. The closure is due to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Laupahoehoe Harbor Breakwater Repairs project. The access driveway shall remain closed for the duration of the project, which is currently projected to be completed in February 2016. However, the project's successful completion is subject to ocean conditions and may take longer to complete. The project's contractor, American Marine Corporation, will restrict vehicular access to the harbor and construction site via physical barricades. When construction operations permit, limited pedestrian access will be allowed to portions of the harbor outside of the active construction area. The public is reminded to observe and follow all posted signs and that use of the boat ramp for ocean access and swimming is prohibited.
