Van Bergen <br />Deputy Director <br />Kona Imin Center Closing August 3 for Improvements <br />The County of Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation announces it will close the Kona <br />Imin Center starting Monday, August 3, to make improvements to the facility. <br />The temporary closure will extend through January 2016, during which time the Kona Imin <br />Center will be unavailable for public use. New reservations will be taken at the end of January <br />2016. In the meantime, the Maka`eo Events Pavilion at Kailua Park, also known as Old Kona <br />Airport Park, will be available for reservations. <br />Isemoto Contracting Co. Ltd. will install new accessible parking, a new walkway and ramp, and <br />kitchen and restroom modifications that all comply with requirements of the Americans with <br />Disabilities Act or ADA. The Kona Imin Center project will also provide new fire sprinkler and <br />smoke alarm systems, sewage system enhancements and roofing repairs. <br />Starting Wednesday, August 5, the Department of Parks and Recreation's Elderly Activities <br />Division will relocate its Nutrition Program to the Hualalai Elderly Housing Phase 2 complex on <br />Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For questions, please call 327-3558. The Imin site <br />manager will be available at the West Hawaii Civic Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
