Communication No. 2015 -36 <br />PAHOA REGIONAL TOWN CENTER PLAN STEERING COMMITTEE <br />August 31, 2015, 8:00 am <br />Luquin's Restaurant <br />MEETING NOTES <br />Planning Consultant and Waste Water Study: After a half hour discussion we are still unclear on our <br />direction in addressing this issue. Actions to be taken: Patti to write letter to Duane Kanuha regarding <br />the sentence from our meeting from the Mayor that came from Director Kanuha, "It was pointed out <br />that the planning study area has been impacted by lava inundation which makes certain circulation <br />alternatives unfeasible so o re- assessment of the study area and objectives is necessary ". The letter will <br />come from the A.C. on behalf of the PRTCPSC. The letter will ask what is our next step in initiating such <br />a study. Patti and Oshi will consult with Bobby -Jean Leithead -Todd regarding a waste water treatment <br />study for Pahoa. <br />Design Guidelines Review Committee: Work that we can do without a consultant is to complete the <br />work on the formation of a review committee for the Pahoa Design Guidelines. At a post- meeting <br />meeting it was decided that Mark and Madie will convene a meeting of Mainstreet Pahoa, Kokua Pahoa <br />and Malama O Puna to form an agreement on the mandate for the Review Committee. Patti will work <br />on the mandate language. <br />Suggestions were made on possible members of the Review Committee: <br />Jon McElveney <br />Larry Brown <br />Lon Brown <br />Mariano Delgado <br />Mark Hinshaw <br />Steve Sparks <br />Alan Lakritz <br />It is the responsibility of the three Pahoa organizations to appoint the Review Committee members. <br />Luquin's Parking Lot & Signage /Restrooms: Elmer agreed to speak with Sal regarding the parking lot <br />and both Danny and Greggor regarding the signs and restroom. <br />Report from Elmer: Elmer will check with Hamana to see if the previous assessment is still valid. Sal <br />agreed to secure an appraisal on his own. It is hoped that there is an acceptable compromise in the <br />middle. Elmer will keep us posted. <br />Post Office Road: Jon reports that the old section of Post Office Road has been called a "Road in <br />Limbo ". Jon will check with Greggor about proposing legislation to get it out of "Limbo ". <br />Lava Viewing: Mark and Madie report that the re- opening of Apa'a and Cemetary Road is essential part, <br />and agree that a viewing area is much desired by Pahoa businesses, HVNP and tourists. They will <br />continue to pursue. <br />
