<br />WINDWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br /> AUGUST 6, 2015 <br /> <br /> BWA LLC dba BOTANICAL WORLD <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the application of <br />ADVENTURES (SPP 04-005) <br />was called to order at 9:17 a.m. in the County of Hawai‘i <br />Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi Street, Hilo, Hawai‘i with Chairman Myles <br /> <br />Miyasato presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Myles Miyasato, Donn Dela Cruz, Charles Heaukulani, <br />Gregory Henkel, Donald Ikeda, and Raylene Moses. <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Duane Kanuha (Planning Director), Danny Patel (Deputy Corporation <br />Counsel for the Windward Planning Commission), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), <br />Jeff Darrow (Staff Planner), Maija Jackson (Staff Planner), and Sarah Hata-Finley (Commission <br />Secretary). <br /> <br />And approximately 3 people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />APPLICANT: BWA LLC dba BOTANICAL WORLD ADVENTURES <br />(Amend SPP 04-005) <br />Request for a 5-year extension of time to Condition No. 2 (complete construction) and the <br />expansion of operating hours (Condition No. 3) of Special Permit No. 04-005, which allowed for <br />the construction of a visitor center, parking lot and related improvements on approximately <br />154,010 square feet (3.53 acres) of land situated within the State Land Use Agricultural District. <br />The project site is part of the existing Botanical World Adventures situated on the north side of <br />Leopolino Road between Highway 19 and the Old Māmalahoa Highway, Kamae‛e, North Hilo, <br />Hawai‛i, TMK: 3-1-001: portion of 015. <br /> <br />MIYASATO: Next item on our agenda is BWA, LLC dba Botanical World Adventures. <br /> <br />DARROW: Mr. Chairman, if we could just give a minute for the computer to come around. <br />Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
