Communication No. 2016 -3 <br />3) Consider improvement of Kioele Rd. or Alula Rd., both connecting Rd. 1 <br />to Rd. 11 across HA as a means of completing connections from Volcano <br />to Keaau within subdivisions, but would need permission of HA. <br />Patti Pinto suggested that all subdivisions that have CL's have paved <br />roads. CLs to remain staggered. About $20 million would establish this <br />connection through subdivisions from Volcano to Keaau. <br />Marlene Hapai recommended Federal monies be secured to pay for <br />Highway 11 improvements, considering the greatest amount of traffic is <br />from visitors to the HVNP (3.5 million per year) and state and county <br />monies be used for upgrading subdivision infrastructure. <br />Jon Olson added to remember alternative recommendations provided <br />should those being looked at are not viable. <br />• Update on meeting schedule with the following to gain support for <br />connectivity implementation: <br />• Representative Gabbard <br />• Senator Schatz <br />o Senator Lorraine Inouye, State Senate Transportation Chair <br />Congressional Senators and Representatives and State Senators and <br />Representatives will be further informed on results of Ad hoc Committee <br />on Connectivity to enable them to help fund and implement <br />recommendations <br />New Business: <br />• Open Discussion on Topics of Concern to CERS members and others in <br />attendance <br />No further discussion. <br />Next Meeting: February 23, 2016, 2:00 p.m., Keaau Community Center, <br />Remaining Schedule for 2016: <br />3/22, 4/26, 5/24, 6/28, 7/26, 8/23, 9/27, 10/25, 11/22, 12/27 or as notified. <br />Adjournment: 3:05 p.m. <br />
