funds from the Geothermal Asset Fund for a geothermal impact mitigation project described as a Psycho -social Impact and Community Wellbeing Study in the amount of $293,760 to conduct a baseline and prospective psycho -social impact assessment on the Big Island of Hawaii in order to identify both past, existing, and potential adverse impacts upon Native Hawaiians associated with the development of geothermal energy generation facilities. The claim that was submitted also includes a request by the ---I'm sorry—the claim also includes a request that the Windward Planning Commission establish a Native Hawaiian Health Study Review Board that will provide advice in the conduct of the study and keep the Windward Planning Commission informed as to the progress of the study. At your January 8, 2015 meeting, the Commission voted to reject the recommendation of the claims adjuster and to award the claim as submitted while also directing the Planning Department to investigate the process of establishing a Native Hawaiian Health Study review board to be comprised of Native Hawaiians, if possible, that will provide advice in the conduct of the study and to keep you informed as to the progress of the study and to provide you with an outline regarding the establishment of this review board and the process in which they would advise the Commission.
