Unger presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Keith F. Unger, Collin Kaholo, Nancy Carr Smith, <br />Barbara Nobriga and Sonny Shimaoka <br /> <br />ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Scott Church and Perry Kealoha <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Danny Patel (Counsel for the Commission), Duane Kanuha (Planning <br />Director), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), Jeff Darrow (Planner), Maija Jackson <br />(Planner), Christian Kay (Planner) and Noriko Sauer (Commission Secretary) <br /> <br />And approximately twelve people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />APPLICANT: JAMES JUVIK (REZ 16-206) <br />Application for a Change of Zone from an Agricultural 20-acre (A-20a) to an Agricultural <br />10-acre (A-10a) zoning district for approximately 21.22 acres of land located on the east side of <br />the intersection of Keana‘aina Street and Kaloko Drive within the Kaloko Mauka Subdivision at <br />Kaloko, North Kona, Hawai‘i, TMK: 7-3-048:001. <br /> <br />UNGER: The first order of business, Item No. 1, Applicant James Juvik, REZ 16-206, <br />application for a Change of Zone from Ag-20, for a Change of Zone from Ag-20 to Ag-10 <br />zoning district for approximately 21.22 acres of land located on the east side of the intersection <br />of Keana‘aina Street and Kaloko Drive within the Kaloko Mauka Subdivision at Kaloko, North <br />Kona, Hawai‘i, TMK 7-3-048:Parcel 1. Staff? <br /> <br />KAY: Thank you, Mr. Chair, good morning. Good morning, Commissioners. If I can direct <br />your attention to the presentation screen. This is an application for a rezone. <br /> <br />The subject parcel is located in the North Hilo District of, pardon me, North Kona District of <br />Hawai‘i Island, more specifically in the Kaloko Mauka area. It’s indicated here in the red <br />outline. Just for your reference, to the left of the screen, running generally north-south, is <br />Māmalahoa Highway, and the parcel again is at the intersection of Kaloko Drive and Keana‘aina <br />Street. <br /> <br />Zoomed in a little bit closer, again outlined in red is the subject parcel. The zoning for the parcel <br />and much of the surrounding area is Agricultural-20 acres as indicated in the green color.
