• Improve and extend county roads to provide new connections from Highway 11 South Lauko Road extension (Connecting Hi way 11 and Fern Acres) The Committee recommends a consideration of the improvement of South Lauko Road and connection to Puhala Street in Fern Acres, in conjunction with other options to improve nearby roads. Currently, S. Lauko Road branches off from Highway 11 and is a narrow, one -lane road that is gated and severely eroded where it crosses a stream bed. The Committee notes the objections raised by several owners of land adjacent to South Lauko Road, as well as support of other landowners. The written comments provided by those in support of and in opposition to this connection. The Committee understands that the Department of Public Works is considering a number of roads for improvement, including South Lauko Road, South Pszyk Road, and the extension of Puhala Road to South Kopua Road, and defers to the judgment of Department in this matter. An environmental assessment for these roads has begun and is expected to conclude by the end of 2016.
