Mr. Achmatowicz: Good morning. I'm Alexander Achmatowicz and I live in Hawi <br /> and I testified at the first hearing for the petition 2015-03. One and <br /> a half years ago. And I'm here today really to pay public tribute <br /> and to say thank you to Lanric Hyland that he has really set a <br /> standard of being a public spirited citizen...and that he persisted <br /> where other people would've simply rolled over and become <br /> cynical and decided that in this atmosphere kind of corruption and <br /> old boy network that it's not worth going out of your way to do <br /> these things...but he won't turn a blind eye...he did a fantastic job <br /> standing up to really people you would consider sicker fans and <br /> toadies of the Mayor's and now he's in ill health and he can't <br /> attend himself...but he's a wonderful man and I'm here today to <br /> pay that tribute to him and that's my testimony. <br /> Ms. Kahakalau: Thank you sir. Please restate your name and what <br /> you're testifying about. <br /> Ms. Leiser: Good morning Board of Ethics. I'm Yvonne Leiser and I'm <br /> testifying about the issue with our Mayor. I'll be short so I'd <br /> appreciate your attention. Thank you. We are now all aware of <br /> what our Mayor did when he thought no one was looking. We're <br /> also aware of what our Mayor did when his advisors were telling <br /> him to stop what he was doing...and stop abusing his <br /> privilege...and we are very aware that he started repaying the <br /> money he took only after it appeared on the front page of a <br /> newspaper. Our Mayor's character flaws have been revealed to us. <br /> These character flaws...this inappropriate behavior is very <br /> disappointing. Mayor Kenoi had a lot of promise...he could've <br /> been a bright star for our island...for our state...but we are <br /> disappointed. We have expectations of how government officials <br /> should behave. We had many hopes for Mayor Kenoi and all I can <br /> say is we are disappointed.
