<br />41 BUSINESS OF COMMITTEE <br />42 1. Reports – <br />43 a. General Plan Update Public Meeting and Workshop Attendance Reports <br />44 – Mark S. Gordon, John Mueller, Joel Cohen, Josephine (Jojo) Tanimoto <br />45 & Diane Kanealiʻi <br />46 i. Mark S. Gordon – His written report was submitted. <br />47 ii. Joel Cohen – The computer modeling gave a perspective of the <br />48 projections of the population and growth over the next 25 years. <br />49 Excellent information was provided such as one-quarter of the <br />50 population of this island is going to be 65 or older in 2040. We have <br />51 23 water systems and 6 waste water systems and they are close to <br />52 high population areas. The models that were presented did not <br />53 discern the difference between market and affordable housing. <br />54 iii. Josephine (Jojo) Tanimoto did not attend the workshop <br />55 iv. Diane Kanealiʻi – Her written report was submitted. <br />56 b. Cultural Resources Commission Meeting – an Update on Archeological <br />57 Impact Study for the Lava Lava Beach Club Expansion Project was <br />58 discussed. <br />59 i. Diane Kanealiʻi – Attended but did not stay for the entire meeting. Her <br />60 report was submitted. Diane additionally noted that the developer <br />61 stated that the trails would be open 24 hours per day for shoreline <br />62 access but they did not indicate where the public could park. <br />63 The committee asked if public comments could still be submitted. <br />64 Staff stated that the public could still submit their comments and <br />65 concerns regarding the project to the Planning Department as the <br />66 permit process is still on-going. Staff advised that any comments <br />67 should reference the permit application number, TMK and project <br />68 name, if available. <br />69 c. Liaison Reports <br />70 i. Kawaihae – Josephine (Jojo) Tanimoto – Josephine (Jojo) Tanimoto <br />71 will provided to the AC copy of the powerpoint presentation made by <br />72 the Kawaihae Liaison Group back in 2012 regarding the group’s <br />73 working plan. <br />74  This was submitted to the Action Committee in 2012 and was <br />75 further submitted to the Planning Director. Jojo Tanimoto <br />76 discussed status of the implementation of the actions identifiedin <br />77 the presentation. <br />78  Diane Kanealiʻi stated that all of the projects listed in the guide are <br />79 being worked on. Diane Kanealiʻi further stated that these items <br />80 are being implemented on a community scale. <br />81  Joel Cohen stated that there is a process and that is the key to <br />82 implementation. <br />83  Chair John Mueller suggested that the Action Committee submit a <br />84 letter to the incoming County Administration to address these <br /> <br />
