PCDP Objective and Action Alignment Table <br />my Action & Improve and expand Community Parks as follows: <br />uisition 1) Develop new Community Parks in: <br />�a) Hawaiian Acres subdivision, at three sites to be determined later through a community <br />involvement process; <br />b) The North Kulani Road area, between (hope and Huina Roads; <br />c) Glenwood, on makai side of South Glenwood Road; <br />d) Nanawale Estates subdivision; <br />e) Leilani Estates subdivision; <br />f) Orchidland Estates subdivision; and <br />g) The mauka portion of Hawaiian Beaches subdivision. <br />2) Pahoa Regional Park: (1) Convert the existing fire station into a one-stop community center <br />providing, but not limited to, a senior center with certified kitchen for congregate meals program <br />and activities/dining room, linkages, support and advocacy for affordable housing, employment, <br />home bound access, child care, teen pregnancy, substance abuse and domestic violence <br />intervention; (2) Repair pump and provide solar heating system and heat -retaining cover for <br />swimming pool; (3) Provide art center and covered performance stage; (4) Provide children's <br />museum and playground; (5) Develop skateboard park; (6) Provide sheltered picnic areas; (7) Build <br />loop access road to lessen traffic on Pahoa main street; and (8) Provide lighted parking areas and <br />walking paths linked to Pahoa village center. <br />3) Shipman (Kea'au) Regional Park: (1) Add interior fencing and rearrange the parking layout to <br />reduce safety hazard to children chasing balls; (2) Provide more shade, seating, and picnic tables <br />for attendees at games and events; (3) Add a large pavilion for team and family activities; (4) <br />Develop additional fields for football and baseball; (5) Provide additional lighting and restrooms; <br />and (6) Develop a new gym at Shipman Regional Park or acquire the National Guard Armory for <br />this use. <br />19 <br />Pahoa Regional Park completed - grand opening on <br />October 29, 2016 <br />(May 2015 -April 2016 Annual Report) <br />o Park construction has resumed after being halted <br />because of June 27th Lava Flow. (May <br />2014 -April 2015 Annual Report) <br />o October 2013 - FONSI granted for Environmental <br />Assessment Pahoa Park Expansion Master Plan. <br />o Engineering and design nearing completion and <br />construction expected to begin before the end of 2014. <br />o Park construction halted because of June 27th Lava <br />Flow <br />o First Phase scope had been initially reduced due to <br />lava concerns but was fully reinstated. (May 2013 - <br />April 2014 Annual Report) <br />o Mt. View playground equipment installed and open <br />for keiki use. (May 2012 - <br />April 2013 Annual Report) • $20 million <br />appropriated in FY 2013-14 CIP Budget for Pahoa Park <br />expansion. <br />• Draft EA for Pahoa Park expansion is being prepared <br />and is expected to be published in mid -2013. <br />• $200,000 appropriated in FY 2013-14 CIP Budget for <br />new roofing and gutters on A.J. Wyatt Gym. (May 2011 - <br />April 2012 Annual Report) • The HPP <br />Board of Directors voted to reject the Dept. of Parks & <br />Recreation proposal to develop a new County Park in <br />• Mt.
