§ 18-59 H AWAI‘I C OUNTY C ODE <br />Section 18-59. Fuel tank location; diesel exception. <br />(a) Any gasoline tank shall be located entirely outside that part of the school bus <br />utilized for carrying passengers. Each gasoline tank shall be equipped with an inlet <br />for filling on the exterior of the bus. <br />(b) This section shall not apply to any diesel-powered bus. <br />(1983 CC, c 18, art 3, sec 18-59.)18-59 <br />Section 18-60. Exhaust pipe requirements. <br />The placement and installation of exhaust pipes of each school bus shall be as <br />approved by the County department of finance. Every school bus shall be constructed <br />and maintained as to prevent exhaust gases from entering the vehicle through the floor. <br />(1983 CC, c 18, art 3, sec 18-60; am 2008, ord 08-107, sec 13.)18-60 <br />Section 18-61. Door specifications. <br />The entrance and exit door of any school bus, shall be placed on the right-hand side <br />of the front of the bus, and shall be directly within the view and under the control of the <br />driver. The entrance and exit shall at all times be kept clear for the ingress and egress <br />of passengers. Every door shall be capable of positive uniform operation at all times. <br />(1983 CC, c 18, art 3, sec 18-61.)18-61 <br />Section 18-62. Emergency exits. <br />Each school bus shall be equipped with an emergency exit in the rear, or on the <br />opposite side of the entrance door, to be opened outward and capable of being opened <br />from either the interior or exterior of the bus. The emergency exit shall be equipped <br />with positive devices to keep it closed when not in use and of a character to permit it to <br />be opened readily when necessary without undue accessibility for unauthorized use. <br />The size, location, and type of the emergency exit must meet with the approval of the <br />County department of finance. <br />(1983 CC, c 18, art 3, sec 18-62; am 2008, ord 08-107, sec 14.)18-62 <br />Section 18-63. Aisles and ceilings. <br />No aisle in a school bus shall be less than twelve inches in width. The ceiling of <br />every school bus must be free from any projection likely to cause injury to a pupil. The <br />ceiling over the aisle and backrest of seats of a school bus must be free from any <br />projection. <br />(1983 CC, c 18, art 3, sec 18-63.)18-63 <br />Section 18-64.
