Mirroring the State of Hawai'i's goal of 100% renewable
electricity by 2045, this clean ground transportation bill offers a tremendous opportunity
to transform the energy demands of transportation provided sufficient public input and
rigorous economic analysis is incorporated into the planning and implementation
process. The County of Hawai'i offers its support and a number of recommendations.
The County maintains that renewable energy goals and implementation must be
inclusive of all citizens; thus it is essential that rigorous economic modeling be deployed
in identifying benchmarks and plans to reach clean ground transportation energy goals
in a manner that will equitably serve across the spectrum of economic demographics.
Development of a transparent roadmap that results in true economic benefits; a
supportive process for cultural shift and a cleaner environment will be essential.
County of Hawai`i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer.
