Takase: Yes, you can do it that way.
Nahale-a: Something to consider.
Greenwell: Maybe we should hear from Brandon on the subject.
Takase: Putting him on the spot. I'm sure our investigators would probably not be
supportive because they like nice clean rules. I drive by at 2:00 and it's closed;
ok I know it's closed. Like I said, we do have other operations so for us to say
that no nothing can remain open after the hours of service, that would be
incorrect. Because like I said we have hotels right now that are 24-hour
operations but they technically shut off, they need to close their liquor service at
4. Most of them close well prior to that and then also our convenience stores
and super markets. A lot of them are 24-hour operations but they need to stop
selling at 11:00. We do have operations that are a little different, just because
you can't sell doesn't mean you have to stop being open. It's a new one for us
that we have right now. But like I said, we have had previous operations like
that and the best example was Ken's Pancake House.
Takaba: Anything further? So were you thinking of amending the motion?
Nahale-a: I'm not sure.
Takaba: It says indefinitely.
Nahale-a: Yeah.
Takaba: So we probably need to amend it.
Nahale-a: Put a stipulation, if we're wanting to do a trial period. State a stipulation to that
yeah.
Takase: I would say give them maybe at least six months or something to give them
some time to see if it goes or not.
Nahale-a: I feel like this department and the Commission has been pro business. I mean
I would not want to, I mean I want to encourage. Not that I'm out at 2 a.m., but we don't
have much places to eat at that hour so who knows.
Takase: If you want to go, now you have a place to go to.
Nahale-a: Yes, so now if we want to go. We know oh we can go there. Okay, so amend?
Takaba: Who seconded? Who seconded the motion?
MAY 4, 2017 - LIQUOR COMMISSION MINUTES
46
