Takaba: Can you describe your business?
Leong: We have a sports bar with karaoke and darts. We serve "pupus" and we have a
certified kitchen. That's about it.
Takaba: Do we have any public testimony? I note there was one letter of protest by
Wally Oki, of the KOkOau Plaza Association of Owners.
Takase: This is the second part. Did you get this letter?
Leong: Yes.
Takase: On behalf of the Department, I would recommend you touch basis with them.
Leong: He came in yesterday. Now I know who he is.
Takaba: Commissioners, any discussion or questions?
Onizuka: Question. So you met him yesterday and was anything resolved or any
discussion on the matter?
Leong: He just told me he was going to turn in this letter. I can talk to him whenever I
can or have to. He said don't take it personal and that's about it.
Takaba: Any other questions?
Lopez: Question. As the Director said, it's between the two of you; wanting to be good
neighbors between business and such. What might you do in response?
Leong: From what I see now, I don't see much of my customers parking there. I see
them parking more across the street. Of course, I can't monitor where everyone parks
but —
Lopez: No. Is there any signage?
Leong: Yes, there is. As soon as you walk in and outside one of the front doors.
Takase: They did have signage up. I think what's changed between now and the last
owner is, maybe it's not legal, but the bowling alley is closed so there's a lot of parking
there. I suspect they will park in the bowling alley until they do something.
Lopez: If you're doing your part with signage and advising your customers; that should
be sufficient.
Taniguchi: The Association sent in a complaint the last time.
JULY6, 2017- LIQUOR COMMISSION MINUTES 25
