Asuncion, Director of the Office of Planning, State of Hawaii, I hereby designate Diane Ley, Director of the County of Hawaii’s Department of Research and Development to serve as the Hawaii County representative on the newly formed Carbon Farming Task Force. The Department of Research and Development's mission includes providing leadership to support, enhance and expand the agricultural and aquaculture sectors within the County of Hawaii. Additionally, the Department is actively engaged in supporting the understanding of climate change causes and impacts; providing for effective decision-making through data and analysis; determining proactive policies that will support transformative and mitigative strategies; and securing opportunities to effectively address related risk management across business sectors and government. Ms. Ley has extensive background in agriculture related to production, its key industries and sector leaders andhas worked in policy development and implementation at the county, state and federal levels of government. She looks forward to engaging, learning and actively contributing to the efforts of this task force to move the State of Hawaii to carbon neutrality.
