Box 2359 <br />Honolulu, Hawaii 96804 <br />Dear Ms. Ma, <br />RE: Carbon Farming Task Force Designee <br />Per the letter dated July 27, 2017 from Mr. Leo R. Asuncion, Director of the <br />Office of Planning, State of Hawaii, I hereby designate Diane Ley, Director of the <br />County of Hawaii’s Department of Research and Development to serve as the Hawaii <br />County representative on the newly formed Carbon Farming Task Force. <br />The Department of Research and Development's mission includes providing <br />leadership to support, enhance and expand the agricultural and aquaculture sectors <br />within the County of Hawaii. Additionally, the Department is actively engaged in <br />supporting the understanding of climate change causes and impacts; providing for <br />effective decision-making through data and analysis; determining proactive policies that <br />will support transformative and mitigative strategies; and securing opportunities to <br />effectively address related risk management across business sectors and government. <br />Ms. Ley has extensive background in agriculture related to production, its key <br />industries and sector leaders andhas worked in policy development and <br />implementation at the county, state and federal levels of government. She looks forward <br />to engaging, learning and actively contributing to the efforts of this task force to move <br />the State of Hawaii to carbon neutrality. <br />County of Hawai‘i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. <br /> <br />
